CIARA BRAVO
BIO
Ciara Bravo has become one of the few actresses working today to move easily between television and film. At only 22-years-old, Ciara’s thirteen-year acting career has brought her roles that range from the girl next door brainiac to the deeply troubled ad-olescent. Her finesse with subtle off-beat humor and a touch of warmth adds to Ciara’s allurement as an actress.
Next up, Ciara is co-starring in the 2018 Tribeca TV Festival – nominated YouTube Premium series, Wayne as troubled and de- fiant Del. Ciara’s two breakout television roles were as a series- regular in FOX’s Second Chance and as a co-star in FOX’s Red Band Society. She has guest starring characters in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and NCIS.
Ciara is currently Associate Producer and co-star in the upcoming film Coast. In 2018, she co-starred in the Sundance-nominated film The Long Dumb Road as Ashly, the rebellious daughter of Casey Wilson. In Marti Noxon’s Sundance-nominated Netflix film To the Bone, she plays Tracey a teen battling Anorexia. Her cam- eo appearance of Neighbor’s 2 – Sorority Rising Ciara brought her All-American charm.
Ciara began her acting career at the young age of nine in local television commercials in her small hometown in Northern Ken- tucky, just ten miles south of Cincinnati, Ohio. Voice-over and commercial acting became her staple until at only 11- years -old she was discovered from an audition tape to play Katie Knight on Nickelodeon’s hit show Big Time Rush. As Ciara’s fan base grew, Nickelodeon cast her in several television movies including the lead in Jinxed. Ciara’s audience appeal brought Nickelodeon’s Jinxed record-breaking network viewership ratings.
Ciara studied acting with Larry Moss during his Master Class Workshop and continues to study with Aaron McPhearson. She strives to maintain her small town charm and works not to make acting the “be-all and end-all.” To further her acting career, Ciara has chosen to put her dream of being a documentary filmmaker and director on hold and deferred her admission to film school. In the meantime, she plans to gain as much knowledge for the craft by watching and learning from those in the business that she has the privilege to work alongside. In her past-time, Ciara enjoys studying art history through UCLA.

Meet Ciara Bravo, the Smart and Witty Star of ‘Red Band Society’
You’re About to Fall in Love With
Hellooo girl crush.
If you thought you cried every single tear you could ever possibly cry at the midnight showing of The Fault in Our Stars, you were wrong. So wrong. Thanks to Fox’s new drama Red Band Society, which revolves around the lives of seriously—and even terminally—ill children living in Ocean Park Hospital’s pediatric ward, you’re going to shed about a million more because this show will seriously tug at your heart strings.
Here’s the thing: Cancer sucks. So does cystic fibrosis and enlarged hearts and, for Ciara Bravo’s 15-year-old character Emma Chota, anorexia. If you haven’t already fallen in love with Emma’s intelligence and wit (what have you been doing the past month anyway?), you will in no time. And you’ll be especially happy to know that Ciara (who is 17 IRL and maybe the sweetest ever) is just as smart and witty off-screen as she is on.
You miiight remember Ciara from Big Time Rush (AKA one of the best shows ever), but she didn’t always know she wanted to be an actress. “I was very into horseback riding and I wanted to be a jockey when I was older,” she tells us. But the moment she met her agent and he opened up the door to the acting world, she was hooked. “I took the opportunity and ran with it. I started to fly out to California in the summers and for a few weeks during the school year, and I would audition and audition and audition. After about four or five years of that, I booked BTR, which was awesome,” she says. “I got to be on that wonderful, wonderful show with amazing people for four years. Then I ended up bookingRed Band Society.”
Ciara’s character has been in and out of Ocean Park quite a few times, but this stay has been long enough for her to have developed relationships with a couple different kids in the hospital, one of them being Kara, played by Zoe Levin. “Similar to Kara, she’s an alpha of sorts. A very different alpha, but alpha nonetheless,” Ciara says. “When we have scenes between Kara and Emma, I always find it very interesting watching them go head to head.” Throughout the season, Ciara’s realized just how similar she and her character are. “I really respect how driven Emma is, and I think that’s something we definitely have in common. She believes her education is incredibly important, which I also agree with, but the difference is she uses it as an escape, and that’s not the case for me,” she says. “School is not my escape—movies and TV and entertainment, that’s my escape.” Click HERE to read the rest of the article.
If you’re a fan of FOX’s Steven Spielberg-produced dramedy “Red Band Society,” you might be familiar with 17-year-old actress Ciara Bravo who stars as Emma Chota, a teenager struggling with an eating disorder. If you’re not familiar, the coming-of-age show is set in a hospital and it revolves around a group of unlikely friends who are suffering from life-threatening illnesses, while also dealing with the struggles of being teenagers.
Although barely an adult herself, Bravo has been acting since she was nine years old, when she began dominating Nickelodeon roles on “Big Time Rush,” “Supah Ninjas,” and “The Haunted Hathaways” series. Her voice has also won audiences over in movies like “Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas,” “The Penguins of Madagascar,” and “Charlie Brown.” The Kentucky native sat down in our studio for an early-morning photo session where she answered some rapid fire questions, revealing everything from her secret celebrity crush to her top selfie tip! Ciara Bravo talks Fox’s ‘Red Band Society’
Exclusive! Ciara Bravo Talks Her Move from Big Time Rush to New Show Red Band Society
Fall TV is officially under way, and many new shows are premiering this week. Up tonight is Red Band Society, a comedy-drama on Fox about a group of sick teenagers living in a hospital ward together. One of those teens is Ciara Bravo, ofBig Time Rush fame, who chatted with OKMagazine.com about what we can expect from the show. Tune in the premiere of Red Band Society tonight at 9/8c.
OK!:What is the premise of the show? Ciara Bravo: Red Band Society is about a group of teens who are in the hospital. It’s different, because it’s from the patients’ point of view, as opposed to the doctors. They grow up and learn all these lessons of adolescence in a hospital setting. I play Emma Chota, who’s 16 and has an eating disorder. She’s been hospitalized on and off for a year. She’s been able to form these relationships with the characters.
OK!: How do you make such serious issues funny? CB: I greatly admire the writers who work on the show, because they do such a great job of bringing light to serious situations. I think the way they do that is by being honest about it, as frank and real as you possibly can. How do the characters deal with their situations? They accept their reality. I think that’s just what they’re trying to do, and being funny is a great way to deal with these situations.
OK!: You’re on a set with tons of kids. How did you guys bond? CB: I was not expecting us to bond as fast as we did, but when we filmed the pilot here in Atlanta, we were all in a hotel together. We were stranded in a city we’d never known before. We would go to sporting games, go to movies. go out to eat. Exploring this new city has helped us grow closer. Though spending 10-12 hours a day together on set doesn’t hurt!
OK!: You are most famous for Big Time Rush. How do the shows compare? CB: They are complete 180s from each other. I couldn’t ask for anything better. Being on Big Time Rush was an absolutely wonderful start. It taught me so much about acting, being on set. Coming into Red Band Society felt very easy on that front. But acting wise, they are very different. Big Time Rush was more of a comedy, very light-hearted, and I was the sassy little sister. On Red Band Society, Emma’s got a lot of depth to her. I’ve had a blast figuring her out.
OK!: Do you still get crazy fans on the street from Big Time Rush? It’s such a passionate fan base. CB: It is incredibly passionate, and I love that. I think the four boys got a lot of that. I’ve met some amazing fans, but I haven’t had the “I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!” People have been so nice when they come up to me, like “Hey, I love your show, can I get a picture?” We take our pics, I go on my merry way. It’s something I haven’t gotten used to yet! Click HERE to read the article.

New Show and Her Love for Jennifer Lawrence
There’s a new show debuting this fall that everyone needs to watch. FOX is premieringRed Band Society on September 17 and you’re not going to want to miss it!
This dramedy stars Octavia Spencer as a nurse working in the pediatric ward of a hospital. We see her caring for a group of teenagers that are in the hospital trying to recover from various illnesses. One of the teen stars on this show is Ciara Bravo. You may recognize her as Katie Knight from Nickelodeon’s Big Time Rush, but now Ciara’s playing Emma Chota on Red Band Society. Trust us, her storyline is definitely going inspire a lot of people.
We were lucky enough to talk to Ciara about her new show, plus she dished all about her celebrity crush and her dream of working with Jennifer Lawrence! Check out the entire interview below!
Celebuzz: Congrats on your new show! Can you tell us a little bit about Emma, your character?
Ciara Bravo: Sure! Emma is 16 years old and she’s currently living with an eating disorder. But something that I like about Emma is how she doesn’t let that get her down too much. She’s still incredibly driven and she’s so smart and she’s very witty, which I enjoy playing quite a bit.
Celebuzz: That’s great that you’re shining a light on a topic that affects a lot of girls like your character, young girls and especially teen girls. I think a lot of people are going to relate this show.
Ciara Bravo: I hope so and I hope that kids can come away something from this eating disorder. That they can find an inspiration in Emma and how she is looking out for help.
Celebuzz: You’re working with such a great cast, a lot them are young too! Have you become fast friends? Has it been fun working together?
Ciara Bravo: Oh definitely! I think being in Atlanta especially, it’s a new city for us all, so it’s been an amazing bonding experience. You know we’ve got Zoe Levin, Rebecca Rittenhouse, Charlie Rowe, Nolan Sotillo, Griffin Gluck, Astro. All of us, we’ve all become very close even just over the pilot that we filmed. Now that we’re in Atlanta for a full season I think it’s going to be quite the bonding experience. Click HERE to read the entire interview.

Ciara Bravo lands role in new Spielberg TV show pilot
Big Time Rush star Ciara Bravo talks Nickelodeon’s original TV movie Jinxed
Your worst day has nothing on the Murphys — bad luck follows them everywhere. In Jinxed, Nickelodeon’s new original TV movie, the Murphy family suffers from a 100-year-old curse that’s made them unlucky for generations. They get sick all the time, trip and fall over anything in their way, and are endlessly pelted with zany hijinks. But instead of going along with the curse for another century, they’ve grown tired of their bad luck and seek to turn that around. Big Time Rush star Ciara Bravo leads the film as Meg Murphy, a 14-year-old who just can’t take the family’s bad luck anymore — especially after she meets Brett, a local cutie (Jack Griffo of The Thundermans). At the same time, though, Meg is about to enter the ultimate bad luck magnet: high school, and according to Bravo, this means the story isn’t just about reversing the curse, but about characters growing up. “[Meg] starts off a little self-conscious in the classic ‘just heading into high school, typical teenager problems’ way, with not knowing who you are,” Bravo tells EW. “Towards the end, she realizes she’s been blessed.” Still, Bravo says, the film sees plenty of action, considering the countless dangers the characters face every day. During the month and half spent filming in Vancouver, the cast switched regularly with body doubles who pulled off eye-popping stunts.
“[Meg is] blown out the basement, and they had the stuntwoman hooked up in all these harnesses, and they just launched her out of the cellar,” she says of her favorite. “It looked so cool, and I was like, ‘Dude, in my dreams!’ Maybe one day.”
But Bravo doesn’t regret having to play bystander during those sequences. “I got to fall down quite a bit [in the film], which was fun,” she says. “In real life, I trip quite often. I find myself getting tangled in my own legs.”
Despite all the calamities her character faces in the film, the 16-year-old actress says she’s no stranger to bad luck. After all, she once had a bike accident where she ended up cutting her liver. “I was just riding my bike and I ended up on the pedal,” Bravo says. “But it ended up fine, I just had to not run around for a month or so. It sounds a lot worse than it was!”
Ciara Bravo is happy to be Jinxed with

Nickelodeon’s young star builds her
career in series co-starring Jack Griffo
It may not sound normal to have starred in a hit TV series and three movies while you still have a year left in high school. But Ciara Bravo, whose new film “Jinxed” premieres at 7 p.m. Friday on Nickelodeon, says you’d be surprised at the normal life she still lives. “I do live in a couple of worlds,” she says. “My home is in Kentucky. I fly out to Los Angeles when I’m working.” Because of her schedule she’s switched to home schooling, which doesn’t mean getting out of anything. On the set, she says, she still has a tutor three to five hours a day. “But when I come home,” she says, “I do the things everyone does. I hang out with my friends. We go to games. It’s great.” Her friends have even gotten past the Hollywood questions. “When I first went out there,” she says, “they’d ask, ‘Oh, did you meet Selena Gomez?’ ‘Is everyone famous there?’ Well, no. So now it doesn’t come up much.” The acting world, however, is still her passion and goal. She loves the kind of comedy she did for four years as the precocious, endearing and occasionally devious little sister Katie Knight on “Big Time Rush.” She’d also like to try “more serious roles.” “This career is something I’ve been serious about for a long time,” she says, citing work on local commercials and years of auditions where everyone said “no.” “Sometimes I wish I were as conniving as Katie,” she says with a laugh. “She figures out how to make things happen and outsmart people. I just don’t have enough time to do that.” Click HERE to see the entire article.
‘Jinxed’ Premieres November 29th!
Ciara Bravo gets a face full of water in this new still from Jinxed. Jinxed follows Meg Murphy (Bravo), a 14-year-old girl whose family has been magically cursed with “Murphy’s Law.” While spending the summer at her grandpa’s (Jay Brazeau) house, Meg develops a friendship with a local cutie named Brett (Jack Griffo). The possibility of romance probes Meg to discover the way to break the family’s “if anything can go wrong, it will” curse. She and her daredevil little brother, Charlie (Jacob Bertrand), set off on a hilarious, calamity-filled adventure to try to turn their family’s luck around once and for all, and give Meg the normal life she’s always dreamed of living. Jinxed premieres Friday, November 29th @ 7PM ET/PT on Nickelodeon. Check out the trailer below! Click HERE to view movie trailer.
