Ellington Ratliff

Los Angeles native, Ellington Ratliff is an actor, dancer, and musician most famously known as the drummer for the band, R5.  With over 25 million fans, R5 has performed all over the world alongside bands such as The Chainsmokers, Panic! At The Disco, and Weezer. It is quite fitting that the multi-talented Ellington Ratliff was named for one of the most famous jazz musicians of all time, Duke Ellington, an honor he is proud of. 


Having descended from a family of successful entertainers,Ellington had an early start to his Career. As a child he appeared in national commercials, theater, television and film. In 2001 he played Robbie Crenshaw in the feature film All You Need with Kellie Martin and booked roles on General Hospital. 

As a teenager, he performed in the original LA production of Jason Robert Brown’s 13 at the Mark Taper Forum. He went on to work on the films The Muppets, My Uncle Rafael, and TV series Raising Hope, Victorious and Eastwick. His most recent credits include Disjointed with James Burrows and Chuck Lorre, and the popular series Criminal Minds.



In 2009 Ellington started the band R5 with Riker, Rocky, Rydel and Ross Lynch. Since then, they’ve put on four world tours and played venues such as the Greek Theater in Los Angeles and the Beacon Theater in New York. Their television appearances include Jimmy Kimmel Live, Ellen, Live with Kelly and Michael and Good Morning America, to name a few.


About R5:


After touring incessantly following the release of their successful EP “Loud,” (debuted in the top 10 on the Billboard 200) R5 made their first full-length debut with “Louder.” The album shot to number one on iTunes in more than 10 countries. 


The 2015 release of their sophomore album “Sometime Last Night,” lifted their Spotify presence to more than 100 million streams to date, with the band’s social media following now surpassing 25 million combined fans. 


With their latest EP entitled, “New Addictions,” the band taps into a deeper part of themselves refining their craft with powerful grooves and sharply crafted hooks. 


Through years of touring and dedication to their craft, R5 has successfully managed to accumulate a huge fan base, which continues to grow rapidly. Their energy is magnetic and powerful.


In early 2012, R5 was signed to Hollywood Records.


Ellington resides in Los Angeles.

R5 shared a mysterious video teasing what looks like new music and a new music video!

The band – Riker LynchRocky LynchRoss LynchRydel Lynch, and Ellington Ratliff – took to social media on Friday night (December 15) to post the 12-second clip.

They captioned it simply, “12.21.17.”

The video features the group playing instruments and singing – Rydel with a short pink wig on – while a cryptic instrumental melody plays in the background.

Middle School Musical

 

Jason Robert Brown’s new all-teen musical 13 opens its world-premiere engagement Jan. 7 at Los Angeles’ Mark Taper Forum.

Todd Graff (“Camp”) directs the work that began previews Dec. 22 for a run at the Center Theatre Group stage through Feb. 18. The new musical comedy from the composer of Parade and The Last Five Years concerns thirteen 13-year-olds dealing with the perils of teenage years in a middle school in Indiana. Dan Elish penned the book for the work, which was previously workshopped by CTG.

 

The cast and band — all teenagers — includes Ricky Ashley, Caitlin Baunoch, Molly Bernstein, Jenáe Burrows, Emma Degerstedt, Jamie Eblen, Julia Harriman, Jordan Johnson, Tinashe Kachingwe, Tyler Mann, Sara Niemietz, Ryan Ogburn, J.D. Phillips, Ellington Ratliff, Chris Raymond, Charlie Rosen, Alex Scolari, Chloé Smith, Christian Vandal, Nehemiah Williams and Seth Zibalese.
